Saturday In The Park
This 40”x40” canvas was recovered from a neighborhood move-out. Formerly a boldly painted Warner cartoon character over newspaper, I scraped and ripped away the heavy acrylic paint character, leaving distressed swatches of newsprint over which to work. I’ve incorporated quadrilaterals of tissue papaer in a cubist sort of manner, to create fields that might represent spaces or objects. An active mix of colors, textures, patterns and materials describes a busy day at a public park or event.
